ABOUT ME
Hi! I’m Emily and my pronouns are she/her. I’m a native of Western North Carolina and from an early age have found inspiration and healing in the southern Appalachian mountains. I am a mother, daughter, partner, and sister. I hold a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and am fully licensed in Clinical Social Work in the state of North Carolina. I have additional training and experience working with young adult women in recovery from substance abuse, trauma survivors, parents, adolescents, and those who live with anxiety and depression.
A social justice background and lens informs my work and life, and I strive to cultivate an anti-oppressive space in therapy. I pay attention not only to individual experiences but also to the intersecting identities of race, gender, sexuality, and more. I believe that caring for our health and well being allows us to care for the collective from a more grounded and sustainable foundation.
I am continually inspired by the capacity of humans as they step into their unique power to recover, and am passionate about holding a brave, authentic, and supportive space for individuals as they discover their ability to thrive.
GUIDING VALUES
I am committed to radical healing that goes to the root and takes into consideration not only the individual but also the familial, spiritual, cultural, social, and systemic forces that shape us.
I will approach our work with respect, warmth, and compassion, and will see you as a human worthy of connection, healing, and liberation. I’ll usually add some humor to the mix too.
I will create a space for you to discover what it means to live your fullest life, rather than prescribing what I think it should mean, and we will work at your perfect pace.
I am committed to learning and to my own personal growth, which in turn allows me to be more present to yours.
